LAKELAND – The Florida Board of Governors has officially approved Florida Polytechnic University’s 25/30 Strategic Plan, setting the stage for the institution’s next phase of academic growth, innovation, and industry collaboration. The plan, which outlines key initiatives for the next five years, was approved at the Board’s meeting on March 26, marking a critical milestone in Florida Poly’s development.
Dr. Devin Stephenson, President of Florida Polytechnic University, presented the 25/30 Strategic Plan to the Board, emphasizing its importance as a roadmap for the University’s future. Since taking office last summer, Stephenson identified the creation of the plan as his top priority, understanding its potential to define the University’s trajectory toward becoming a powerhouse in STEM education.

“We are thrilled to officially launch our 25/30 Strategic Plan, a roadmap that positions Florida Poly as a leader in high-tech education and a catalyst for regional economic development,” said Dr. Stephenson. “This plan is built around three core priorities that will enhance innovation, foster growth, and provide our students with extraordinary opportunities in STEM careers.”
The 25/30 Strategic Plan focuses on three key priorities:
1. Comprehensive Institutional Growth: This initiative aims to strengthen Florida Poly’s academic excellence, expand research capabilities, and forge deeper partnerships with industry and community stakeholders. The plan targets an increase in enrollment to 3,000 students and aims to raise the four-year graduation rate to 60% by 2030.
2. Advancement through Resource Development: Florida Poly intends to leverage financial, technological, and human resources to support academic programs, promote research innovation, and boost community engagement.
3. Academic and Industry Collaborative Partnerships: This priority emphasizes creating strategic relationships with industry leaders and academic institutions. If necessary, the University plans to acquire or develop property to further strengthen these partnerships.
Beth Kigel, Chair of Florida Poly’s Board of Trustees, highlighted the collaborative efforts that shaped the plan. The document was developed with input from industry leaders, educators, and community members, following the University’s inaugural Strategic Planning Summit held last September.
“This plan is a direct result of collaboration and bold thinking,” said Kigel. “We are fully committed to supporting President Stephenson and his team in executing this vision, which will enhance the value of a Florida Poly education and position the University as a leading force in innovation.”
With the 25/30 Strategic Plan now in place, Florida Polytechnic University is poised for transformative growth that will benefit students, faculty, and the broader community.
