Born in Rio de Janeiro, Alexandre Mendes Carneiro built his path from a solid technical foundation to a global career that now places him among the professionals powering the next phase of America’s digital transformation. His story began early, still in high school, when he completed technical training in electronics, a decision that would set the course for a life immersed in technology.

In the early 2000s, Alexandre pursued his passion for Information Technology, earning diplomas and professional certifications that prepared him for a rapidly evolving digital world. His first steps came through Microsoft certifications, mastering Windows Server administration and learning the intricacies of enterprise environments. “That’s when I realized that technology was not just about machines, it was about connecting people and helping organizations move forward,” Alexandre recalls.

By 2008, his curiosity led him deeper into network administration, where he began training with Cisco Systems, the company that would later define a major chapter of his professional journey. That same year, he joined Orange Business Services, a French telecommunications giant offering IT solutions and network management for multinational clients. From 2008 to 2011, Alexandre managed corporate networks for global clients, ensuring performance and reliability in high-demand environments.

His career took another step forward in 2011, when he joined Central IT, a Brazilian technology firm serving the Fundação Nacional das Artes (FUNARTE). As a Network Specialist, he led a technical team responsible for maintaining robust connectivity for institutional clients in Rio de Janeiro.

The next year, MedData invited Alexandre to join its team supporting the Rede Globo network, Brazil’s largest television broadcaster. Stationed at PROJAC, one of Latin America’s largest production complexes, he ensured the network infrastructure behind the country’s most-watched programs ran flawlessly. “It was a challenging environment, millions of viewers depended on what we did behind the scenes. That’s when I learned how essential reliability is,” he says.

In 2015, when Dimension Data, a global IT leader headquartered in South Africa, absorbed the Globo contracts, Alexandre was among the few professionals selected to continue with the company. His performance earned him recognition and a clear path upward.

By 2018, he applied for and was promoted to a position within the Network Projects Team, focusing on wireless infrastructure and post-sales implementation. He relocated to São Paulo, working as an Infrastructure Analyst responsible for translating client proposals into technical reality, designing, configuring, and implementing complete network systems.

When the company was acquired by Japan’s NTT Group and rebranded as NTT Data, Alexandre stayed on as part of the new generation of network professionals leading global infrastructure operations. “I wanted to be where technology was happening, where networks become invisible because they just work. That’s what motivates me: solving problems people don’t even know exist,” he explains.

In 2020, he joined Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of the world’s largest IT companies, as a Network Expert, providing support to Exelon Enterprises, a U.S.-based energy corporation. His work ensured connectivity for operations across the United States, monitoring large-scale systems remotely from Brazil.

In 2021, Alexandre returned to NTT Data as a Senior Infrastructure Analyst, deepening his leadership in complex enterprise environments. Then, in 2022, an opportunity came full circle, Cisco Systems, the company that first inspired his path, invited him to join its Enterprise Team in Kraków, Poland, as a Technical Consulting Engineer.

At Cisco, Alexandre provided global technical support: “follow the sun” coverage,  for enterprise clients across the world. From Kraków, he handled critical configurations, complex troubleshooting, and real-time collaboration with engineers across continents. “It was a turning point,” he reflects. “I was no longer just fixing problems, I was part of the global architecture that keeps the world connected.”

Now, in 2025, Alexandre is ready for his next challenge: bringing his international expertise to the United States, the largest and most advanced network technology market in the world. “The U.S. is where the most innovative digital transformations are happening,” he says. “I want to contribute, learn, and grow in the environment that defines the future of connectivity.”

Family: The Human Connection Behind the Networks

Behind every great professional, there’s a story of love, partnership, and resilience, and for Alexandre, that story is written alongside Aline Ávila Carneiro. The two met in 2005 and, after six years together, married in October 2011. Four years later, in March 2015, they welcomed their daughter, Amanda Ávila Carneiro, who became the light of their journey.

Throughout his international career, from Rio de Janeiro to São Paulo, from Poland to now the United States, Alexandre has carried his family as both his motivation and foundation. “Every step I took, every decision to move countries, to study, to work harder, it was all for them,” he shares. “My family is my stability and my purpose. They remind me of what truly matters.”

Aline, who has witnessed every challenge and achievement firsthand, describes her husband with admiration and pride:

“Alexandre is the kind of man who never gives up. He’s a brilliant professional, but what really defines him is the way he supports and protects his family,” she says. “Even when he’s managing complex projects or working long hours, he always finds time for us. He’s a dedicated father and husband, someone who leads not only at work but also at home.”

Amanda, now 10, has grown up watching her father’s global career unfold. From seeing him solve network issues late at night to exploring new countries together, she has learned what it means to dream big and stay connected, in every sense of the word.

“Sometimes I explain to Amanda that what I do helps people talk, work, and live across the world,” Alexandre smiles. “And she always says, ‘Then you make the internet work for everyone, daddy!’, and that’s when I know I’m doing something meaningful.”

Their shared experiences, moving, adapting, learning languages, and building a new life abroad, have made the Carneiro family stronger. “We’ve learned that no matter where we are, home is wherever we’re together,” Aline adds softly.

Why Professionals Like Alexandre Are Essential to the U.S. Market

As the global economy becomes increasingly digital, network engineers like Alexandre Carneiro are essential to keeping the world’s systems connected, secure, and efficient.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects a 12% growth for Computer Network Architects between 2024 and 2034, significantly faster than average. This demand is driven by cloud migration, 5G expansion, and the explosion of Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications across industries.

According to Zippia and Coursera, the average salary for network engineers in the U.S. now exceeds $83,000 per year, while senior experts and network architects earn upwards of $140,000 annually. Cisco-certified professionals, especially those with advanced credentials like CCNP Enterprise and CCNA Wireless, are among the top candidates sought by Fortune 500 companies and global enterprises.

In addition, 87% of U.S. technology leaders report ongoing challenges in hiring qualified network professionals, creating opportunities for internationally trained engineers like Alexandre to bring their expertise to American soil.

“The U.S. is the ultimate learning ground,” Alexandre explains. “Every new technology trend starts here, from cloud-native networks to zero-trust architectures. Being in this environment means constantly learning, evolving, and contributing to the systems that keep the world moving.”

For him, the move to the U.S. represents more than career growth, it’s a personal mission to merge his global experience with the American drive for innovation. “I want to be part of the next wave of digital infrastructure, helping businesses, governments, and communities stay connected securely and efficiently,” he emphasizes.

Alexandre Carneiro’s journey, from his early days as a student in Rio’s technical school to leading complex global projects with Cisco, embodies the essence of the modern professional: adaptable, ambitious, and grounded in family values.

For Aline, it’s a story of love and partnership:

“I’ve seen Alexandre work through nights, manage impossible schedules, and still be the first to make breakfast for Amanda before school,” she says with a smile. “He doesn’t just build networks, he builds dreams, and he always makes sure ours stay connected.”

As Alexandre prepares to establish himself in the U.S., he brings with him not just certifications and experience, but a philosophy shaped by years of dedication: technology connects people, and family keeps those connections human.
